Motion App Review: Why Reporting Alone Won't Scale Your Ads
An honest Motion app review for performance marketers. Motion grades your ads, but can it actually help you create them? See our row-by-row breakdown of features, pricing, and output.

30M+ Ads Created For 30K+ Happy Customers
Is the Motion app worth it?
Yes, if
Reporting is your only gap, your spend sits on Meta, and somebody else already makes the ads.
No, if
Your buyers are waiting on creative. Motion writes briefs and renders nothing you can upload.
Our pick
Quickads, 4.6 against 2.2
1200+ finished ads a week, strategists on the account, every channel covered, about half the in-house cost.
Nine things a performance team buys for
Motion rates 4.5 on G2 among its own customers. Fair score, for reporting. This asks a different question.
Quickads
Leads on all nine
Motion
Ahead on nothing
Overall is the plain average. Quickads 41.5 divided by 9 gives 4.6. Motion 20.0 divided by 9 gives 2.2. Its strongest marks are the bottom two rows, which is where our margin is narrowest. We build a competing product, so check every source below yourself.
The good parts, and the bill
- One legible view. No more exporting spreadsheets out of two ad managers.Alen D., 5.0 out of 5, G2
- Faster than Ads Manager. Reviewers describe a lag-free experience for Meta analysis.Roman P., 4.5 out of 5, G2
- Support people thank by name. The most praised part of the product, and we are not inventing a complaint about it.Meredith U., G2
- Seven attributes per ad name. Miss one and the grouping breaks.Verified user, mid-market, G2
- A feature vanished after they rebuilt around it. One enterprise team adapted their whole convention, then watched it get withdrawn.Verified user, enterprise, G2
- The bill climbs with your spend. Steep jumps between bands, sales call above the entry tier.Kimara S., 4.0 out of 5, G2
- It argues with Ads Manager. Hook and hold rate diverge roughly 15 to 20% of the time.Roman P., 4.5 out of 5, G2
Straight from G2
Pricing is a little expensive, especially as you scale. I would prefer smaller jumps between spend tiers.
One major frustration was the removal of the winning combo feature after we adapted our naming conventions to align with it.
Sometimes the data is different from Meta. It happens like 15 to 20% of the time while using it.
We have had to be stingy with who has access to it and can self-serve data.
Motion tells you what to make. Who makes it?
Not one of those complaints explains why your ads stopped working. Creative fatigue is a supply problem.
What you get
A brief
Hooks, concepts, scripts, documents. Real output, and none of it uploadable. You cannot put a brief in Ads Manager.
What you need
Twenty assets
One winning concept turns into twelve variations, three hook rewrites, a static cutdown and a banner set. Five weeks for one in-house designer.
What we do
All twenty, inside a week
Strategists pick the angles, our engine does the volume, performance marketers keep testing. Nobody hands you a to-do list.
Want twenty finished creatives in your first week?
Send your three best ads. New angles and finished samples come back in days.
An engine we built, and people who run it
Award-winning, owned end to end, staffed by people who buy media for a living. AI handles form. Humans own substance.
Week one
Account read, then angles
Models trained on 30 million ads read your account. A strategist brings the concepts worth producing. Your ad names stay untouched.
Week two onward
Full cadence running
Statics, video, motion banners, lifestyle banners, email graphics, catalogue imagery, copy. 1200+ creatives a week.
Every month after
Someone still owns it
Performance marketers retire fatigued creative and brief the next round. Brand memory compounds, so month six beats month one.
Cost
Roughly half of hiring in-house. Billed per creative, so a good quarter never raises your invoice. No annual lock-in and a free tier to start.
Compliance
Copyright-free by construction, FTC-aware, and we follow FDA guidance on health and supplement claims.
Proof
Udemy, Traya and PlatinumRx run creative through the engine. Good Monk reports roughly a threefold lift in on-brand creative volume since switching.
Why most teams pick Quickads
Sorted by the shape of your team. What you spend matters far less than who is making the work.
Early stage, one channel
Ads Manager already tells you enough. Paying a slice of media budget for reporting is the wrong first hire. Start on our free tier and put the money into output.
Studio or agency already producing
This is the shape of team the analytics category was built around. It still adds nothing to your queue. Most teams here use us as the production layer and keep the reporting they have.
Nobody dedicated to making creative
You will buy a handsome report and stay stuck. We give you 1200+ finished assets a week with strategists on the account.
Running Google Ads too
Motion cannot connect a Google account at all. We produce for every channel you run, plus banners, email and web.
Agency with a full roster
Check the seat and account caps before you sign. Reviewers describe disconnecting brands to make room. Our white-label delivery has no ceiling.
Questions buyers actually ask
Is the Motion app worth it?
In one narrow case, yes. Reporting is your only bottleneck, spend sits on Meta, somebody else makes the ads. Outside that you are paying a slice of media budget to grade a queue that is already too thin. On the nine things a performance team buys for, we score Quickads 4.6 and Motion 2.2.
Motion rates 4.5 on G2, so why do you score it 2.2?
Different questions. G2 asks Motion's own customers to rate what they bought, and they rate the reporting highly. Fair enough. We score both products on what a team needs to keep fresh creative in market: finished ads, speed, human direction, channel coverage, setup cost, cost behaviour, compliance. Motion does not compete on seven of those nine. Its best marks are insight and client-ready numbers, at 4.0 and 3.5.
What is the best alternative to Motion?
For a different dashboard, Superads, Atria and Foreplay's analytics layer, with MagicBrief winding down. None of them make ads. If the reason you are looking is an empty queue, Quickads is the better swap: 1200+ finished assets a week, strategists owning the direction, around half what the same volume costs in-house.
Is Motion trustworthy with the numbers?
Fine for internal calls, shakier for client reporting. It applies a weighted average, syncs on its own schedule, and drops ads under certain spend thresholds. Roman P. puts hook and hold rate divergence at 15 to 20% of the time. Meredith U. says clients cannot reconcile it with the platform. Set expectations before you share a snapshot.
How much does the Motion app cost per month?
Banded by monthly ad spend. Published entry tier with a spend ceiling, then a sales call. Reviewers call the jumps steep. Motion has restructured its tiers more than once, so trust its pricing page over a third-party article, since several of those contradict each other. We bill per creative, with a free tier to start.
Does Motion create ad creative, or only analyse it?
It writes now. Hooks across many tactic types, concepts, brief documents, spreadsheets. Rendering images or video sits outside the product, and so does publishing. Motion stops at the brief. We hand over the finished asset.
How long does Motion take to set up?
Connecting takes minutes. Getting value takes longer. Motion's own guidance says most teams reach comfort with about 80% of the platform within a month, and full familiarity closer to three months. Tagging needs a day or two after connection. We are producing finished drafts inside a week with no setup work on your side.
Is this the same Motion as the calendar app?
No, and a fitness app makes three. This review covers the paid social creative analytics platform. If an article about Motion mentions ADHD, meeting scheduling or Google Calendar, it is reviewing something else entirely. Several published ratings are contaminated this way.
Motion is a scoreboard. We make the plays.
A competent scoreboard. If the ads are what you are missing, it leaves you where you started.
